Other Collaborative Professionals in North Carolina
Separating Together is one collaborative practice organization among several in the state of North Carolina. A collaborative practice organization is not a law firm, but is an association of separate law firms, lawyers, and mental health professionals formed to promote the use of the collaborative process as permitted by the State Bar of North Carolina. The State Bar has specifically stated that spouses going through divorce may choose to each use an attorney from the same collaborative practice organization, such as Separating Together.
The individual attorneys and psychologists who are members of the Separating Together collaborative practice organization will participate in the collaborative process with professionals from other collaborative practice organizations.
If you or your spouse wish to use the collaborative process for divorce and would prefer that one of the attorneys or psychologists is a member of a different collaborative practice group, the member professionals of Separating Together ask only that you understand that for the sake of a quality process they request the following assurances:
- The attorney or psychologist has training that meets the minimum IACP-approved standards for training in the collaborative process
- The attorney will be comfortable signing the collaborative participation agreement in use by Separating Together or that otherwise meets the requirements for the collaborative process under North Carolina General Statute section 50-72.
The following North Carolina collaborative practice organization, like Separating Together, is registered with the International Association of Collaborative Professionals (IACP) and requires of their member attorneys, psychologists, and financial professionals that they demonstrate IACP-certified training in the collaborative process.
