Randolph (Tré) Morgan III, Family Law Attorney
Tré devotes his practice to helping individuals and their families who want to find solutions outside of the courtroom to the legal issues of divorce. Through collaborative law, mediation and other non-court processes, Tré helps couples who want to spare as much money, time, destruction and loss as possible through divorce.
Tré is in the same stage of life as so many people going through divorce: juggling roles as a parent, spouse, business owner, and/or career builder. It is hard to appreciate the challenges, stresses, joys and failures of juggling some or all of these roles unless you’ve been there.
He is a child of divorce. He’s lived the change caused by divorce. He understands divorce from the child’s perspective.
He has the experience, training and education required of a collaborative attorney. He has a degree in psychology and a law degree, both from UNC-Chapel Hill. He’s handled cases in court, he’s mediated cases, and he’s represented clients in divorce consulting and in attorney-only and full-team collaborative cases. In fact, he was an attorney in the first full team collaborative case in this area. He has advanced training in communication, negotiation, collaborative divorce, and mediation, and he pursues more training every year.
The combination of these personal experiences, education, training and professional experience make Tré uniquely qualified to understand and negotiate the very real issues that confront his clients in divorce. In short, he “gets it”.
Tré formerly practiced family law with Nicholls & Crampton, P.A. one of the most well regarded law firms in Raleigh. He opened his own law firm to pursue a practice on the front edge of family law. He has honed his practice through extensive training in collaborative law, collaborative divorce, mediation, negotiation and communication, in addition to his legal experience representing clients.
Tré recognizes that family law is in the midst of a sea change; an inescapable evolution from traditional court battles to non-court negotiated solutions for divorcing families. Tré represented family law clients in divorce, child custody, alimony, equitable distribution and related family law claims in North Carolina courts for years. But during that time he realized that providing the best service to clients required finding a better process than the cold, combative, expensive, lengthy and frequently destructive trip through the court system. Tré believes that the collaborative process is that better process.
Tré is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, is a Board Member of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, a member of the Wake County Bar Association YLD’s Public Service Committee and an Executive Committee member of the North Carolina Association of Collaborative Divorce Professionals.
